2013 Weddings.. Wait.. Say What?!

Yep. Wedding season is nearing AGAIN. Why am I talking about weddings? I don't post of such beautiful pictures of someones big day so why am I talking about them?!

Well 2013 and Brides to be... I have felt this overwhelming urge to start walking the path of Wedding photography. Numerous times through the year I have had many people ask me what I charge simply without knowing weather I have even offered it as a service to begin with. At first I ignored the whole idea and thought of it all together but the persisting urge kept presenting itself and me being me, I listened and thought long and hard and therefore have arrived at the conclusion I feel there is something pulling me this way.

Some people may wonder why I would offer something I don't have a back ground in. Well, thats a really good question. Im offering it for lower than "norm" rates for the remainder of the year. I could second shoot but truthfully I do not feel it will help my portfolio enough to press down these persistent urges to pursue something so amazing RIGHT NOW. Yes I have that much confidence to say that. Some photographers do things a certain way but the wonderful art about photography is everyone gets there in different ways and while there may be photographer "norms" that some follow closely its not always the best way or the right way or for that matter the wrong way.

I have full confidence in my current work as a portrait photographer that I can also do weddings and create a stunning image and nothing less. I wrote up a small sheet to share with you. If you are getting married or know of someone who is, please forward this on to them so that they can see what I have to offer and to have a chance at my "portfolio building rates". Please read the info page over on my Facebook fan page by clicking on the left hand side of my site on the "Facebook" tab. Thank you!

Message me if you have questions!

Change is good.

So, I will start by saying that change is good. That is exactly what this blog post will be about. Recently I have learned that I have found more of my love and passion in photography by shooting specific types of shoots. What kind you ask?... Well, I have a couple that really make my heart jump and those include: Couples/Engagements, Seniors, Discreet Boudoir, Glamour/single shots and we will categorize fashion shoots in with the last one :)

Military Homecomings are HUGE... how would I know?... well duh! I'm a proud Army wife and these are some of the most emotional times between husband and wife and families and the kids. This will be the majority of my family shoots is they are booked. I'm proud to do of such service to my fellow military wives and families. With that said, I offer a 15% discount to those of active duty weather they are coming home or the lovely women of these soldiers are booking a boudoir shoot for their love overseas. Contact me for more info for these shoots.

For me this has been something I have put a lot of though into. Though I LOVE family shoots, my heart is more devoted towards my little specialties. This could change again in the later future but as of now I must follow my heart. So with that said, I won't completely shun out family/child shoots however I would like to keep my books and devotion strait onto what I aim to better myself in. I may occasionally throw in a mini session geared toward family's and kids during holidays so watch on my Face Book fan page for those times and prices. If you are interested in doing a family shoot just email me :)

FYI: I will be working with a Hair and Makeup artist for my Boudoir shoots so you will have those packaged in your shoot!

So to my new start in specializations that I have chose to stick with I want to throw out there that I will offer my couples/engagement sessions for $100 including your disc of high res images along with web share images! I will offer boudoir shoots for $100 for the first five ladies to contact me for more info.

Senior in High School or Senior in college? Contact me for your Senior pictures. Really they will and can be as cool as you want them to be. College students your not to "old" give me a call!

So when does all this sweetness start? December 31st 2012. Yep start planning now! Valentines is coming up around the corner and a new year is about to start, so guys if you plan on popping the question you should probably call me :)

For anymore questions or concerns please email me for a specific price list and info sheet. I would be glad to help you or answer any questions you may have promptly and I hope to work with you soon!

Wow, so talk about blog neglect. So sorry to those who may view my page and yet have not seen my newest collections of work for display BUT in a small explanation that I can offer is that I have been super busy. No really, I mean that. Not an excuse but getting everything going behind the scenes first would be crucial to getting up to where things should be and that would be posting more of my current sessions. So with that said I will post a session that actually kind of has a two in one. It starts off as a family session and we had some of the most delightful light we could have had and this was all done right before summers end. Now, some of you viewers may have seen more of these pictures on my FaceBook and that was that. I'm here now to post a pretty good set from there session so you can see all of these lovely images all in one place. So the first session took place one day before the second session, basically a back to back session. Up first is the family pictures of the Rodriguez family and then exclusively just the two love birds that make up the Rodriguez family :) Enjoy!

What a great way to end the session right?.... SUPER FUN! Okay, now for the pictures of just the two of them. TA DA!

Well how about some seriously good mushy-ness? Just kidding, I think they came out great and Im super glad I was able to share. If these inspire you to get yours done certainly do let me know!

Whats not to love?

Oh my gosh! has it not been a good minute since I have posted anything on this lovely blog.... I feel bad because its lonely!- Well, here I go with a session that I did just recently of family portraits. It was really a wonderful day out and I was so incredibly excited to shoot in the wonderful available light!

The Broome family most certainly had style and beauty and I loved every photo that came out of their session. I had a blast working on them because of the beauty and the wonderful color that was surrounding everything in the photo's. To the Broome family, thank you for choosing me to photograph your family and   you each as individuals and as a couple it was a blast for me and I truly love how laid back and creative y'all really were! Thank you again! I appreciate every ounce of love and appreciation for what I do. Without any longer of a hold here are some wonderful pictures from their session. Enjoy!

Life is precious...

So, I just want to start by saying that this something that Im about to mention is something thats been heavy on my heart for some time. Im now just getting a moment to write my heart out for those who are willing to listen. This post probably won't be good for those who might be faint hearted but I feel it is in connection to what I do and how important it is to truly treasure life. Be advised the images I may share here with this post are somewhat disturbing and some may not want to look at them. Because drinking and driving was the core of the accident, please be aware that this is the results of drinking and driving and that I do *not* condone it what so ever. I hope that people realize there is to much to risk and lose if they choose to do so.

Just a little over a year ago on Sunday morning, February 20th, 2011 my younger brother Joshua was involved in a fatal car accident with a passenger in tow who also was severely injured. The driver of the other vehicle did not survive. The passenger that was in my brothers car (his friend) is Jason Mcdonald. Jason died this last Sunday Morning, March 4th, 2012 at 3:15 A.M in another drunken fatal car accident that claimed his life this time around. Jason Left behind two kids at the young age of 20 years old. There were a total of four young men in the car that night and now has claimed the life of another young man who was clinging to life so desperately at the age of 18 years old and was the cousin of our dear family friend. The other young man is laying near deaths edge in a Seattle hospital currently and trying to cling to life. The driver of the vehicle was released from the hospital and is now facing two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence with a count of vehicular assault while under the influence.

Just a short year ago, I was and still am the sister who is holding the hand of her little brother who made a horrible decision to drink and drive. Though he is in prison currently, I see a lot of changes in my brother for the good of his life. My brother has a heart of gold and many will refuse to ever see him that way. He was the driver of the green car and the black car belonged to the young woman passed away upon impact. The young woman was found to be intoxicated the night that she also lost her life. The roads where we come from in the winter are unforgiving with ice packed on them and makes it nearly impossible to stop at any rate. With video evidence of a nearby facility capturing every second of the accident, we were able to see that both my brother and the young woman were not able to stop with a seconds notice of each other in view. The young woman was coming from an intersection that had a stop sign, in video we seen that she was not able to come to a full or complete stop and actually rolled through the stop sign there fore my brothers car struck her car immediately. A t-bone collision. My brother walked away with a broken femur, hip and pelvis on his right side where he was trying so desperately to press into his breaks so hard that he was nearly standing on the break pedal to avoid this young woman but the ice and other factors hindered his ability to avoid her. Though both my brother and the young woman's blood alcohol content was EXACTLY the same amount at .11, just three points past the legal limit, they all ultimately paid a very high price for their decisions.

As the months went by, I did all I could to help my brother physically and emotionally, though I was a wreck on the inside. I picked up my camera often to document these things because I just knew one day my brother was going to be able to make a difference in this world using his testimony and my documentation to illustrate the example of his life and the choice he made that night. Soon, my brother was ordered into custody to face the charges against him. When this happened, I felt like the mother who also lost her son even though he is just my brother. All I had once I knew I could not see him in person was the pictures I took. To this day, those pictures mean so much to me knowing that I still have my little brother here alive and well despite his current living situation. They also will render the memory of him when he has children to share them with. Unfortunately, Jason who just passed away, will only have pictures to be had by his two children. Pictures are pictures and sometimes they are not the prettiest ones but they are worth keeping. So take pictures often and love them more than words can describe.

My point here is that life is so precious and it is a gift but it is something that can also be taken away just like that. Pictures are so important to treasure. These are often all a person has left once someone passes away. Pictures are meant to be treasured and loved and cherished for all the years to come and I certainly hope that many will see the true value in having these memories created for the very reasons of enjoying them on your walls or having them around when someone close to you is no longer a part of this world. Im so glad that I took pictures of this tragic time not to remember the bad but to remember the blessing of the lives that we have in OUR own lives and that each day is a gift and a blessing. God works in so many mysterious ways that we can never understand, but I love that about God, he knows exactly what, when, where and how without me ever having to do all of that myself. If there is someone out there that you love and you have not told them so lately, tell them today and everyday there after! it is simple. You never know what life has around the next corner and it can be the last time that you ever hear from or see or speak to that person.

Value all that you have and all of those around you. Love often, forgive often and laugh often because it is a short life but it is a sweet life. God Bless those who have lost their loved ones Sunday morning and those to whom have lost a loved one due to drinking and driving. Life is so precious.

xo,

Vanessa

As you can see, these pictures aren't the best I have taken but they still mean so much. It is heart wrenching but I hope that people will understand how precious memories and life really are.
